My Journey: After being called out of a career in the secular world, I was appointed to the IMB in November 1998. My dog Shadow and I arrived in Kiev, Ukraine to study Russian in March, 1999. After full-time language study we moved to Odessa in the summer of 2000 to begin work in ministry to women. In the fall of 2003, the Lord called me to Kharkov to work in church planting alongside our IMB team and evangelical Ukrainian believers.
My Desire: The desire of my heart is to be an instrument the Lord uses to see Ukrainian women and men set free from chemical and emotional dependencies to serve the Lord. With prayer as a foundation, we hope to work through support groups, one-on-one discipleship, and small group Bible studies to see those once in bondage free, in and through Christ, to be a vital part of a church planting movement in the Kharkov Oblast (state).
Prayer Request:
Personally, I would ask those who want to pray to be in prayer for the English club I am taking over from some independent missionaries who are leaving. There are 15 to 17 people coming every week....most are professionals (doctors, teachers), but there are some students as well. Only 2 or 3 are believers. It's phenomenal to hear the questions they have concerning God, Jesus, and Christianity. Pray that I would have the wisdom of the Lord to answer their questions, and that all would come to know Christ as Savior.
Pray for the Living Water groups in Izum and Brigadearivka as they plan for a fall evangelistic seminar focusing on addictions. Ask the Lord to even now be drawing people in the city of Izum to desire freedom from alcoholism and a relationship with Jesus.
